WHAT is the NAA Aphasia Ambassador Program?
The NAA Aphasia Ambassador Program is a group of people working to
raise awareness about aphasia. Ambassadors help by teaching others
about what aphasia is and how it affects people. They speak to businesses,
churches, schools, and the general public to help people understand
aphasia better.
The goals of the NAA Aphasia Ambassador Program
The goal is to make “aphasia” a word everyone knows. We want people
with aphasia to be able to communicate more easily in all parts of their
lives.
Ambassadors will:
1. Respect: Help people understand and respect those living with
aphasia.
2. Collaboration: Work with other programs to share education tools.
3. Diversity: Focus on helping communities that are affected the most
by aphasia.
4. Advocacy: Build a network of people to support individuals with
aphasia and their families.
WHO can be a NAA Aphasia Ambassador?
Anyone who wants to raise awareness about aphasia can join. This
includes people with aphasia, their families, friends, caregivers, health
professionals, or anyone who cares about this cause.
HOW do you become an NAA Aphasia Ambassador?
1. Apply online.
2. Complete training online. Once you finish, you’ll receive a certificate
and be part of our Ambassador Network.
WHY become an NAA Ambassador?
By becoming an ambassador, you can help others understand aphasia.
This will make life easier for people with aphasia, as they will be better
understood and included in their community. You will get all the materials
you need, like flyers and videos, to help educate people.
What do I have to do as an Ambassador?
Once you’re an ambassador, you can choose how much time you want to
give. You can decide how you want to share information about aphasia.
There’s no set schedule, and any effort you make is appreciated. You can
also tell us about the people you educate, so we can track our impact
together.
The NAA will support you by:
● Giving you handouts, power points, videos
● Giving you promotional items
● Helping you to find places to speak
● Putting you in touch with other Ambassadors
● Rewarding your accomplishment
